Philips Korea and DSMC Signed MOU to Build a Smart Operating Room Based on a Medical Device Data Integration Platform

Seoul, Republic of Korea – Philips Korea, a leader in health technology (Country Leader Nak-hoon Choi, www.philips.co.kr) announced on the 29th that it has signed a partnership (MOU) with Keimyung University Dongsan Medical Center (Director Chi-heum Cho) to build a Korean-style smart operating room and collaborate on research based on medical data, and that it will introduce a vendor-neutral medical device data integration platform in Korea for the first time.
The core solution of this agreement, Capsule, is Philips’ Medical Device Information Platform (MDIP), which collects non-standard data from over 1,200 types of medical devices from various brands, converts it into a standardized format, and simultaneously delivers it to multiple systems.
Philips Capsule can flexibly integrate equipment from various departments and different manufacturers, helping to automate patient records and build an integrated information system. It also facilitates swift and accurate clinical decision-making by comprehensively presenting patients’ vital signs, treatment progress, and medical history, while ultimately serving as the foundation for building a big data platform to advance the development of smart hospitals.
Through this collaboration, the two organizations will promote: ▲ the establishment of a Korean-style smart operating room and medical big data system through MDIP ▲ joint research on the outcomes of optimizing work processes ▲ cooperation in promoting these achievements to the medical community both domestically and internationally. In addition, they plan to form a working committee to develop concrete implementation strategies and maintain a continuous cooperation system.
An MOU ceremony held on September 17 at Keimyung University Dongsan Medical Center was attended by Nak-hoon Choi, Country Leader of Philips Korea; Victor Stulen, Sales Lead for Enterprise Informatics ASEAN & KoreaEI APAC, Japan, India; Soon-seong Gong, Sales Leader, SouthHealth Systems Sales Korea; Sang-cheol Byun, Sales Executive, CI (DCP) KoreaEI ASEAN & Korea Sales; Eun-young So, Sales Executive, CI&I Korea/EI Korea Sales; as well as Chi-heum Cho, Director of Dongsan Medical Center; Sang-hoon Kwon, Director of External Affairs; Gi-bum Park, Head of the Surgical Center; Bong-il Song, Deputy Head of Smart Innovation; Seung-cheol Shin, Head of Digital Innovation; and Chang-seop Kim, Team Head of External Affairs.
Chi-heum Cho, Director of Keimyung University Dongsan Medical Center, said, “Through this MOU, Dongsan Medical Center has adopted a state-of-the-art platform for integrated management of operating room data. We expect it will strengthen patient safety while laying the groundwork for research, education, and future medical innovation.”
Nak-hoon Choi, Country Leader of Philips Korea, said, “Philips Capsule is a platform that standardizes data from more than 1,200 devices across multiple manufacturers and, in the long run, supports a single, end-to-end data flow extending to a dashboard. Through ongoing collaboration with Dongsan Medical Center, we plan to further refine the operational model of the smart operating room together.”
